GLP, a leading investor and developer of logistics warehouses and distribution parks, is leasing a 15,000 SQ M unit, Unit 6, of its 134,000 SQ M logistics centre in Mönchengladbach, Germany to Coca-Cola European Partners Deutschland GmbH (CCEP). The logistics centre, one of the largest infrastructure facilities of its kind in Germany, is located in the well-connected Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region, in direct proximity to the A61 motorway.

“Coca-Cola is one of the most valuable consumer goods brands in the world. The fact that this major brand has chosen our facility in the most populous metropolitan area in Germany shows that, despite the shortage of available land, we offer our clients high-quality facilities in prime locations that allow them to achieve significant competitive advantages. We look forward to working with Coca-Cola”, says Marie-Luise von Knobloch-Keil, Asset Management Director, GLP.

“The relocation of our external warehouse from Kerpen, Germany to Mönchengladbach supports Coca-Cola European Partners’ Net Zero 2040 climate strategy. The significantly reduced drive between the production facility and the warehouse saves Coca-Cola just under 500 tonnes of CO2 per year”, notes Tomislava Ticic Rac, CCEP Plant Manager responsible for Mönchengladbach.

The facility is located in Mönchengladbach’s Regiopark, an inter-communal industrial estate of the City of Mönchengladbach and the community of Jüchen. An excellent location for logistics and distribution, it hosts international companies such as Zalando, Esprit and DHL/Primark.

With a five-year leasing agreement for the location, Coca-Cola European Partners Deutschland has quick access to consumer markets in the densely populated western part of Germany. As the site is centrally located in the heart of Europe, the region’s urban areas and their logistics hubs can quickly be reached. The Düsseldorf international airport can be reached in around 30 minutes, Cologne Bonn international airport in around 50 minutes and the Mönchengladbach central station in around 20 minutes. In addition, the nearby Rhine River provides access to inland waterway transport.

GLP’s logistics centre in Mönchengladbach is a large-scale facility. The 208,000 SQ M site comprises eight units offering a total warehouse space of 134,000 SQ M. Special features include the large number of loading docks on both sides of the building, a total of 136 dock doors and five ground-level entrance doors, as well as a two-story mezzanine area with several freight elevators and a total space of 38,000 SQ M.

As part of a rental mandate, BNP Paribas Real Estate was an advisory and mediating agent. GLP’s legal adviser was DLA Piper.
