3rd February 2021 – GLP, a leading investor and developer of logistics warehouses and distribution parks, has commenced development of a 51,000 SQ M warehouse at GLP Park Prague Chrastany, 40,000 SQ M of which has been leased to e-commerce business, Alza.

Chrastany is GLP’s second project with Alza, the largest e-commerce business in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Alza has been operating at GLP Park Bratislava Senec since 2015, where it now occupies 47,000 SQ M. Alza launched its expansion across Europe in 2014 and is now active in numerous European countries.

Alza intends to use the 40,000 SQ M warehouse as an e-commerce distribution centre, showroom and a drive-through pick-up point. The site has been developed with an increased floor loading capacity to allow for the installation of a steel mezzanine, and partitions have been removed to create an open-plan layout to maximise warehouse space. Thanks to advanced loading docks with three levels, a wide range of vehicles from small vans to standard lorries can be used to conveniently access the site.

Construction has now begun and is due to complete in Q2 of 2022. The site will comprise two separate units of 40,000 SQ M and 11,000 SQ M, with the latter still available to lease. Both units are expected to receive a BREEAM Excellent certification.

To ensure the safety and well-being of customers, the logistics park has been designed to allow pedestrians safe access away from truck traffic, and includes designated leisure zones within its gardens.

Jan Moudřík, Director of expansion, facility and showroom management Alza.cz, said:  “GLP is a partner, with whom it is not only pleasure to cooperate, but further more they are extremely swift and flexible during negotiations and when implementing changes arising even during the projects realization.

“The strategic location will bring our services closer to our customers in western and southern parts of Prague and in the adjacent Central Bohemian Region, whome we will be able to service even quicker, also thanks to the planned AlzaDrive.”

Jan Palek, Country Manager GLP Czech Republic and Slovakia, said: “Alza is one of our most valued customers and we are pleased that they have again chosen us as a provider of warehouse space. GLP Park Prague Chrastany will benefit from excellent connectivity to the city of Prague and best-in-class development standards and sustainability features. At GLP, we pride ourselves on providing our customers with quality logistics assets in strategic locations, and this is no exception.”
