$1 Billion GLP ALFALINK Sagamihara Fully Leased Upon Completion

One of the largest multifunctional facilities in Japan, GLP ALFALINK Sagamihara is fully leased with over 30 prominent companies operating in the facility

Tokyo, 13 June 2023 - GLP Pte Ltd. (“GLP”) is pleased to announce the successful completion of GLP ALFALINK Sagamihara, a massive-scale new age logistics campus in Greater Tokyo. Built at a total investment cost of JPY 150 billion (~$1 billion), this highly anticipated project spans a gross floor area of 680,000 square meters across four buildings.

GLP ALFALINK Sagamihara is the first fully established campus under the ALFALINK brand and represents a significant step forward in GLP Japan’s mission to create a new generation of open-hub, modern logistics facilities through state-of-the-art design and technologies. The facility is fully leased to over 30 prominent companies accommodating a workforce of over 5,000 employees.

Strategically located near the Sagamihara Aikawa Interchange and Sagamihara Interchange on the Ken-O expressway, the site is an ideal location for a logistics base as it is a key transportation hub with access to the Kansai and Chubu regions, in addition to being a distribution base for the Kanto region.

Yoshiyuki Chosa, President of GLP Japan, said, "Our vision for the ALFALINK series was a modern open hub facility where customers can co-create and collaborate with each other, and employees and residents are able to co-exist harmoniously. We are deeply grateful to our customers, local governments and the community who have embraced this concept and brought it to life. As a responsible corporate citizen, we will continue to support the growth of the logistics market while ensuring the sustainability and safety of all our facilities.”

Industry leader in sustainability

In line with global ESG commitments, GLP ALFALINK Sagamihara aims to make a positive impact on the environment and communities in which it operates. The facility implements a suite of energy conservation and carbon reduction initiatives, this includes onsite rooftop solar power which generates approximately 10,000 KW annually to meet a proportion of the site’s energy needs, allowing all main areas to operate on 100% renewable energy1. To enhance water management, well water is purified and distilled to be used as drinking water. The use of well water reduces overall energy costs and provides an alternative supply in times of emergency. GLP ALFALINK Sagamihara features 60,000 square meters of green space, approximately 20% of the site’s total area. All four buildings of GLP ALFALINK Sagamihara have received LEED Gold certification and/or ZEB certification2.

As part of business continuity planning and mitigate risk of supply chain disruptions, the facility houses fuel storage tanks as well as a private fuel station which allows customers to purchase fuel at a lower price. The facility contains emergency power generators which can sustain operations for three days to support quick recovery in the event of a disaster. The facility has also been identified for use as a disaster support base to be used for the delivery of relief supplies.

GLP ALFALINK Sagamihara has organized a series of social initiatives and community events for residents and employees, including a logistics tour for elementary school students and the ALFALINK Sagamihara Summer Fest 2022 which was attended by nearly 1000 community members.
